When a subscription ends, because a payment fails, a payment is refunded or a cancelled plan reaches the end of its paid period, the codes it kept live keep working for 14 more days; then people who scan them see a QRVane page instead, unless the workspace subscribes again. Cancelling takes one click, with no offers or questions in the way, and a cancelled plan runs to the end of the period already paid for.

Before you subscribe

Every code's first 14 days

Every code works for 14 days from the moment it is made. After that, unless its workspace has a plan with room for it, people who scan it see a QRVane page instead of the destination.

Design a code, give an email address, and type the 4-digit code we send to it. There is no password and nothing to set up. The code belongs to that address, so only someone who can read that inbox can change it, see its scans or buy a plan that keeps it live.

Once a code stops, a scan shows a plain QRVane page that says the code's 14-day free period has ended, or that its owner's plan has ended, with a line for its owner to sign in and subscribe. There is no fake error and no advert. Subscribing brings back, at once, every code the plan keeps live. A code's scans can be exported as CSV at every stage: in its first 14 days, in a grace period and after it stops.

On every plan

What every plan includes

Plans differ only in how many codes they keep live. These come with all of them.

  • Change a code after printing

Point it somewhere new whenever you like. Every printed copy follows from the next scan.

  • Hosted menu and business card pages

A menu PDF or a digital business card at a go.qrvane.com address, with no website to build.

  • 24 months of scan history

Daily scans, places and devices, for every code in the workspace.

  • Export your scan data

A code's scans can be exported as CSV at every stage: in its first 14 days, in a grace period and after it stops.

  • Print-ready downloads

PNG, SVG and PDF, with your colours, logo and a frame.

  • One click to cancel

Cancelling takes one click, with no offers or questions in the way, and a cancelled plan runs to the end of the period already paid for.

What a scanner sees

Every state a code can be in

The same on every plan. If we cannot look a code up for a moment, the scanner is asked to try again, and is never told the code does not exist. You can only move to a plan with room for every code you are keeping live, so a change of plan leaves every code as it is.

What someone who scans a dynamic code sees in each state
WorkingWhen: The code is inside its first 14 days, or its workspace has a plan with room for it, and it has not been stopped for abuse. The scanner sees: Your link. A working code sends the scanner straight to your link, with no advert and no page of ours in between.
In graceWhen: A subscription that covered this code ended within the last 14 days: a cancelled plan reached the end of its paid period, a payment failed, or a payment was refunded or reversed. The scanner sees: Your link, exactly as when the code is working. Only you notice: After a subscription ends we email its owner when the 14-day grace period starts, and again 7 days and 1 day before those codes stop.
StoppedWhen: The code's 14 days ran out and its workspace has no plan with room for it (those 14 days have no grace period after them); or a subscription's 14-day grace period has passed; or the workspace's owner has asked for their account to be deleted, for the 30 days before it goes for good. A code stopped that way comes back when the account is restored, not by subscribing. The scanner sees: A plain page that says the code is not active, with a line for its owner to sign in and reactivate it. There is no fake error and no advert. Subscribing brings back, at once, every code the plan keeps live.
Blocked for abuseWhen: The code was found to break the acceptable use policy (phishing, malware, a scam, illegal content or someone else’s rights), by our screening or from a report a person read. The scanner sees: A warning page saying the code was blocked for breaking the rules on what codes may point to. The scanner is not sent on, and no plan brings it back.
DeletedWhen: The owner deleted the code, or its workspace was deleted for good with its owner’s account. The scanner sees: A page saying the code no longer exists. A deleted code’s short link is never given to anyone else.
Can’t be looked upWhen: For a moment, our database cannot be reached. The scanner sees: A page saying “we can’t look this code up” and asking them to try again in a minute. The code itself is unchanged, and the scanner is never told it does not exist. For the technically minded: the page answers with HTTP 503, which browsers and search engines read as “try again later”, never 404, “not found”.

FAQ

Questions about paying

Payments are taken by Paddle, which sells our plans as the merchant of record and sends the invoices.
How do I make a code?

Design a code, give an email address, and type the 4-digit code we send to it. There is no password and nothing to set up. The code belongs to that address, so only someone who can read that inbox can change it, see its scans or buy a plan that keeps it live. Every code is a dynamic code: a short go.qrvane.com link, or a hosted page behind one, that you can point somewhere new after printing.

What does a plan actually buy?

Every code works for 14 days from the moment it is made. After that, unless its workspace has a plan with room for it, people who scan it see a QRVane page instead of the destination. While the workspace subscribes, its plan keeps codes live past their first 14 days: Starter 10, Pro 50 and Business 250.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes. Every subscription can be paid monthly or yearly, and yearly costs at least 29% less than 12 monthly payments.

Which plan do I need?

Count the codes a plan must keep live: Starter 10, Pro 50 and Business 250. A hosted menu or business card page is reached through a code, so it uses a place like any other.

What happens if a payment fails or I cancel?

Cancelling takes one click, with no offers or questions in the way, and a cancelled plan runs to the end of the period already paid for. When a subscription ends, because a payment fails, a payment is refunded or a cancelled plan reaches the end of its paid period, the codes it kept live keep working for 14 more days; then people who scan them see a QRVane page instead, unless the workspace subscribes again. After a subscription ends we email its owner when the 14-day grace period starts, and again 7 days and 1 day before those codes stop. Once a code stops, a scan shows a plain QRVane page that says the code's 14-day free period has ended, or that its owner's plan has ended, with a line for its owner to sign in and subscribe. There is no fake error and no advert. Subscribing brings back, at once, every code the plan keeps live.

Can I change plans?

Yes, up or down, monthly or yearly. You can only move to a plan with room for every code you are keeping live, so a change of plan leaves every code as it is.

Can I take my scan data with me?

A code's scans can be exported as CSV at every stage: in its first 14 days, in a grace period and after it stops. Scan history is kept for 24 months, then deleted.

What about refunds?

Refunds are handled by Paddle, the merchant of record that sells our plans, under Paddle’s buyer terms. Nothing here takes away the rights you have in law. A refund ends the subscription, and the codes it kept live then get the same 14-day grace period as any other ending, with the same notices, before they stop. A payment that is reversed or charged back through a bank ends its subscription the same way as a refund.

Do prices include tax?

Prices are in US dollars and do not include sales tax or VAT; where tax applies, Paddle adds it at checkout and shows the total before you pay. Payments are taken by Paddle, which sells our plans as the merchant of record and sends the invoices.

What happens if QRVane closes?

If QRVane ever closes, customers get 12 months' notice and a full export of their codes and scan history. When the service ends, codes that hold a go.qrvane.com link stop working, so the notice is time to reprint. It is written into the terms of service.
